2022 Summer Term

The KDT Summer Term offers a variety of classes for students of all ages and experience levels. Dancing over the summer provides students the opportunity to build upon skills learned in the previous term or try something different. New and returning students are welcome! 

Summer Dance Intensive

Monday, August 15th – Friday, August 19th 9:00am – 3:00pm


Our Summer Dance Intensive provides a holistic educational experience for passionate dance students. Dancers explore various movement practices while expanding their artistry and overall knowledge of their craft in a safe, non-competitive environment. 

Students will experience three different movement practices each morning and several specialty workshops of their choosing each afternoon. See the anticipated list of offerings below. We hope you’ll take a moment to recognize our decentering of Western dance forms as we strive to educate our students of movement practices that exist outside of the Western canon. 

Anticipated movement studies may include the following: African Diasporic dance forms, Afro-Contemporary, Ballet, Ballroom dance forms, Bollywood, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Korean folk dance, Modern, Musical Theatre, Pilates, Progressing Ballet Technique, Tap, Yoga

Anticipated specialty workshops may include the following: Composition & Improvisation, Somatics, Dance Appreciation, College & Career Readiness 

Tuition: $350

Bon Voyage! Dance Camp  
June 27th – July 1st  &  July 11th – July 15th 9:00am to noon 

Ages 3.5-9
Take an imaginative quest around the world! The first stop – France, to learn about the origins of Ballet. The next stop — Ghana, to explore percussive, rhythmic movement. In New York, we’ll stop by Broadway to try tapping and singing like the pros. Dancers will learn about a variety of dance forms while exploring different movement styles and techniques. Students should wear clothing they are comfortable dancing in. Ballet and tap shoes are recommended, but not required. Bring a nut-free snack and drink.

SuperHero Camp 
August 1st – August 5th from 9:00am – noon

Ages 3.5-9
This camp is geared towards your active and imaginative child! With dance and creative movement classes offered each day, students will explore the skills it takes to be SUPER. Classes will focus on strength, rhythm, confidence, balance, and fun! With a daily superhero story, and wearable superhero crafts, this is one action-packed week! Students should wear clothing they are comfortable dancing in. Bring a nut-free snack and drink.

Ballet Basics Camp 
August 1st – August 5th from 9:00am – noon

Ages 3.5-9
Spend a week immersed in dance classes, listening to classical  music, watching excerpts from classical ballets and learning the fundamental skills of dance. Students will take daily ballet classes, with additional creative movement classes. Child-led crafts and activities will focus on building knowledge of balance, coordination and presence needed for ballet. Leotard and tights are recommended, or clothing comfortable for dancing. Please bring ballet shoes. Bring a nut-free snack and drink.
