Kinetics Youth Ensemble

The Kinetics Youth Ensemble (KYE) is made up of five performing student companies for dancers of all levels in grades 4-12. The KYE offers students an opportunity to rehearse and refine concert dance works in preparation for major performances in the Winter & Spring while building relationships and gaining skills in performance, composition, collaboration and more. The KYE engages the community in performances, festivals and workshops throughout the year.

Participating in the Kinetics Youth Ensemble (KYE) involves a commitment to class and rehearsal beyond normal class expectations and is intended for dancers who wish to hone their dance technique and performance skills while surrounding themselves with a supportive community. Time commitments are composed of weekly rehearsals and some pre-scheduled weekends. Additional rehearsals may be called in preparation for performances. In addition to their weekly schedules, ensemble members will have the opportunity to work with guest choreographers in a variety of dance genres, perform throughout the year, attend dance festivals, perform in Kinetics Youth Ensemble productions in the Winter and Spring, and have their work featured in the Kinetics Spring Showcase!

What is the KYE?

KYE Groups

KYE has 5 different performing groups:

Pre-Repertory (grades 4-6, no audition, 1hr/week – 2 technique class requirement)

Repertory 1 (grades 7-12, no audition, 1hr/week – 2 technique class requirement)

Repertory 2 (grades 8-12, audition only, 1.25hrs/week – 3 technique class requirement)

Repertory 3 (grades 8-12, audition only, 1.25hrs/week – 3 technique class requirement)

Apprentice Company (grades 8-12, audition only, 1.5hrs/week – 3 technique class requirement)

Payment Options:

Pay In Full – Pay in full in August with a 5% discount
Installments – Pay in 2 installments (half due in August and half due in April)
Fundraise – Pay the first installment (in August) and fundraise to contribute to the second installment of dues (fundraising happens between September and March 1st)*

*Any funds accrued in fundraising will be subtracted from the 2nd installment fee. Families hoping to fundraise will need to join a fundraising committee and will help to organize the fundraising efforts and decide on any additional fundraising activities. This is a parent-led initiative.

Apprentice Company

Apprentice Company Dancers may be invited to understudy or perform with the Kinetics Dance Company in addition to other opportunities beyond the required Winter and Spring performances.
