As a community non-profit, our mission keeps us moving as we strive to create accessible programs that enrich, educate, and inspire!

Kinetics Dance Theatre School of Contemporary Dance offers a wide variety of non-competitive, cost-effective dance instruction for students of all ages and levels.  With a focus on developing artistry alongside technique and a faculty comprised of passionate, well-qualified professionals, our students receive instruction that is safe, attentive, and grounded in the highest curricula and dance pedagogy standards.  In addition to an emphasis in modern dance with a strong core ballet program, Kinetics offers instruction in a wide range of genres.   It is our goal to create an atmosphere that welcomes every student, young and old, from the brand new to the experienced, to those looking for recreation to those in search of a rigorous technical program.

Instruction begins as early as age two within Parent/Child dance classes. At age three, students begin taking class independently in our Creative Dance classes, wherein, through imagery and creative prompts–and unbeknownst to them, they begin to learn basic concepts of movement such as as balance, agility, shape, dynamic, and expression. Students then move on to our Dance Basics and Dance Fundamentals classes where they are introduced to Ballet, tap, or other styles. Upon completion of Dance Fundamentals, students move on to our Pre-Level, where they can continue to study Ballet and Tap, but may also begin Modern, Jazz, and Hip Hop.

At the age of 8 to 9, students begin taking classes within our progressive level system.  In addition to Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop classes, there are specialty classes such as Musical Theatre, Lyrical, and Repertory and Choreography, just to name a few. Older and more advanced students have the opportunity to participate in Pointe Classes and Dance Improvisation & Partnering at the recommendation of their instructor.

We also recognize that many dancers get a late start, and for that reason offer beginning level classes for Teens in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Tap.

Adult classes in both dance and fitness (Pilates, Yoga, Barre Burn, Dance Fitness, etc) are offered.  There are also Master Classes, technique-based non-performing classes, classes just for boys, classes designed specifically for students with special needs, a Professional Artists’ Co-op class hosted by the Professional Company, and so much more.  Throughout the year, Kinetics hosts a wide variety of workshops, so be on the lookout for specialty classes! In the past, we have held workshops in African Dance, Ballroom Dance, Leaps and Turns, Children’s Yoga, and more!
